Colette Ellis

Colette D. Ellis is Founding Principal & Head Coach of InStep Consulting LLC. Since 1998, the company has helped people and organizations discover their competent advantage™ through Executive Coaching programs, Team Building seminars, and Strategic Planning retreats.

Colette bases her intuitive approach on nearly 15 years advising leaders from not-for-profit organizations, Fortune 500 companies, and government entities across the United States. Skilled at learning her client’s needs, she has trained executives and managers to communicate effectively and to lead their teams through change. Colette encourages innovative and continuous learning as an Adjunct Professor with NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, teaching courses on Managing Diversity. She has been a featured speaker for 85 Broads, 100 Women in Hedge Funds, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Citibank at Work, Downtown Women’s Club, Grace Institute, National Coalition of 100 Black Women, and Women for Hire.

Colette earned her BA in English from Dartmouth College, and an MPA in Public Finance from New York University. In 2006, she completed certification at the Consultation Center of Yale University School of Medicine in Coping with Work & Family Stress™, a work-life balance program. She also is certified by FranklinCovey to teach 7 Habits of Highly Effective People® and FOCUS: Achieving Your Highest Priorities.
